I recently read the book When Women Ruled the World: Six Queens of Egypt by Kara Cooney, and it directly impacted this collection.
If you have any interest in ancient Egypt and how their civilization and culture lasted for more than 3000 years, I highly recommend the read. This book journeys through 6 different women that ruled during different dynasties, how they came to be in power, how their rule impacted society of their time, and how powerful they were able to be.
While I was reading this book I did a deep dive into research of the jewelry of the ancient Egyptians. Bead weaving as adornment was prominent in ancient Egypt, from beaded collars, bracelets and earrings. Jewelry in general was a large part of their culture. Their styles of jewelry and ways of adorning themselves with their wares struck a chord in my creative brain.

When creating these works, my focus was on the power of the feminine. Inspired by the six women in Cooney’s book, these works pay tribute to the female leaders. Each piece of jewelry to be bold and beautiful and hold that fierceness for the wearer. I hope you find that in each piece and know the thought, heart, and love that went into creating them <3.
